Adopted when he was just six months old from Elmsford Animal Shelter -- now Pets Alive Westchester -- this is the fuzzy, colorful shepherd-collie mix that inspired CharlieDog and Friends.
In real life, Charlie is the classic American mutt, a perfectly original mix of colors that changes with the seasons. Designer Kathy Voerg has captured his colorful, happy nature with our very first release: "Charlie".
CharlieDog's "Charlie" is 18" long and weighty, at 3/4 pound, and a mix of sherpa, fleece and satin, with child-safe embroidered eyes and nose. Like all CharlieDog toys, he wears a colorful collar embroidered with the word "Adopt", has a serial number (from 1 to 2000) on his care tag, and his name embroidered on a patch on his leg. Serial numbers will be the basis of random "raffles" as we give away even more donations to animal rescue causes.
Five dollars of every "Charlie" purchased is donated to his home shelter at Pets Alive Westchester, a no-kill animal rescue in Elmsford, New York. Pets Alive is nationally recognized as a progressive, innovative shelter that saves the lives of hundreds of homeless dogs and cats each year. (Visit the Pets Alive Westchester Facebook page, here.)
