Rosco Goes Home. Good boy, Rosco!

Posted By Suzy Allman Aug 12, 2012

Rosco, a homeless, elderly pit bull terrier scheduled to be euthanized at New York Animal Care and Control, is rescued from "The List"; CharlieDogs transported him to his new home in Pennsylvania.

Good thing for reclining front seats: Rosco finishes off a Quarter Pounder With Cheese, and settles in. Bruised Not Broken gave him the Facebook exposure he desperately needed; Pibbles n More rescued this pup from the needle.  His new owners could not possibly love him more than they do.

My friend Carol sends me a text when a particular dog touches her heart, and that dog needs a lift to a new, loving home.  She works in one of New York City's animal pounds -- Ground Zero for homeless, throw-away pets.  I love it when I get a text or email from Carol, because it means another very special animal has been saved, and it means that in my very near future, I'll get to spend a blessed day doing something I care deeply about with a critter I will come to love in a very short time.  A Freedom Ride is a spiritual thing.  And I love the hiking part.

With the back seats taken out, there's room for at least two dog beds in my Honda Element.  Rosco would have none of it.

Rosco was soooo calm during the transport, preferring to be in the front seat and trying to curl up in a little ball.  I was finally able to recline the seat and put a bed on it, so he could sleep in comfort.  He loved looking out the window and seemed to enjoy his Freedom Burger, as long as I fed it to him in little bite sizes (I love the feeling of a soft hairy muzzle on the palm of my hand!).

Your purchase of a CharlieDog toy helps us pay for gas and tolls, letting an animal that had run out of hope, run free.  (Quarter Pounders and Teddy Grahams: we got that)

    Thank you.

I’ve always been afraid of pits and through the posts of your organization, I’m able to see what kind, sweet animals they are. Keep up the God work.
